I think more people know about Arch from it being mentioned than who actually use it. Actually I think more people know about Arch from the meme of an Arch user mentioning it than who have mentioned using it.

Bills don’t often get passed on the first try. If anything you should be critical that this is only the second time, it ought to be a constant attempt to change a system that seemingly everyone not making a profit from is against. I’ll also say that the only way anything like this will get passed is through the left, the right does not want everyone to get a vote. So it will likely fail again somewhere unless the ratio of left-right shifts. As is true of any bills that favor the public good.

Bills are often started by one or a few people to get voted on by others. It will be resisted, but not by the side that would do well with a ranked choice with other left-sided third parties.

Yet if I was helping my elders over the phone, I’d get all sorts of “What Windows key?”, “I can’t find that Control key”, or “I did that key, the plus key, and then my hand slipped and I minimized everything.”

Over time, it is. It’s eliminating the source. In Terminator, Matrix, and others they say that the AI took a split second to act, but our AI doesn’t have those connections. It’s working with what it’s got.

At one point I got offered a choice to stay with the company pension or convert it to a special 401k that had a higher contribution percentage. I said nope to the change, as I figured the only reason they’re looking to get the tenured people over to what the new people can only get is because it’s better for the company.

This is the right answer. Money. There’s plenty of the rest of the stuff mentioned, but cults of any sort are useful tools for the powerful. And actually, it’s not even money, it’s POWER.

Same, except I snatched up both the theater and extended the minute they came out and have watched through them all numerous times. As well as now watched a lot of reaction videos for them, which I guess counts too. It’s fun to reexperience the first time through someone else’s eyes.

We already knew this before, I think we were just hoping that it would bounce back some or we’d stop doing what we do. A fool’s hope.

I’m sure many don’t have the hardware to run local, but for most things that will probably work just as well as the full models, plus you can modify them and experiment. Start with Ollama as the base to run them, and see what works best. I tend to primarily use the edited uncensored versions of llama3 like the Neural Daredevil variations.

But just remember at any model’s base, even the biggest and best, they are at the core a predictor. This works great for some uses, not so well for others. Don’t use a screwdriver for a hammer…at least not until they merge them to be able to do both well.

The first Jurassic Park quote applies here, a few have used a variation of that idea of doing something just because you can. The other quote follows it, “Dinosaurs and man, two species separated by 65 million years of evolution have just been suddenly thrown back into the mix together. How can we possibly have the slightest idea what to expect?”

These aren’t dinosaurs and are a lot closer to us in the timeline, but definitely reintroducing them in a large scale would have some effect to the environment they’re put in. Perhaps we only make a few…seems kind of pointless though to bring back a species but keep them at extinction levels. And can they even survive as they were in a warming planet? We might not even be able to, and we’re younger and current.

I can see that as a deal breaker. Odd that they don’t have multiple slots at this point, that’s been a thing with games forever.

This was called the minute they put the PPP loan idea together. Where’s the oversight? How can fraudulent claims be avoided? The PPP loss still wasn’t as big as the blank checks given to major corporations like airlines to keep the economy machine rolling. And in one sense I’m okay with government stepping in to avoid disaster, that’s one of their jobs. It’s just so many of these companies got free money that they really didn’t need to stay alive, all because they smelled the opportunity…plus they took money that smaller businesses needed and no longer exist.

I don’t like extra dots simply because pattern matching might get weird down the road. Keep dots for extension type and use Pascal to make it easier to read multiple words. Flatcase only if it’s short or I’m lazy for a temp file.

So with the enhancements since then $10 is probably a fair price. I just figure being okay to pay $12 but bailing for a few more dollars for a “luxury” product seems overblown, but again…it’s up to the buyer on if they feel they are getting a good buy.

I never was a Runescape player, but I was hardcore Ultima Online in the early days. Looking at the newest versions out there, it’s intriguing, but also so much more complex now that I think I’d enjoy watching gameplay more than playing it now. Age catches up to you.

It’s not a popular opinion, and I’m sure I’ll get downvoted for the reminder, but what is $5 then in 2024 dollars? Just to keep a perspective that inflation does happen, and $5 is not a lot of money now.

However, if you’re getting less of a product with a lot of eye candy to hide that fact, then get the pitchforks back out. In the end it’s a matter of if it’s worth the cost, no matter what the amount is.
