We aren’t talking about current cameras. We are talking about the proposed plan to make cameras that do cryptographically sign the images they take.

It’s not that simple. It’s not just a “this is or isn’t AI” boolean in the metadata. Hash the image, then sign the hash with digital signature key. The signature will be invalid if the image has been tampered with, and you can’t make a new signature without the signing key.

Once the image is signed, you can’t tamper with it and get away with it.

The vulnerability is, how do you ensure an image isn’t faked before it gets to the signature part? On some level, I think this is a fundamentally unsolvable problem. But there may be ways to make it practically impossible to fake, at least for the average user without highly advanced resources.

Take a high-quality AI image, add some noise, blur, and compress it a few times.

Or, even better, print it and take a picture of the print out, making sure your photo of the photo is blurry enough to hide the details that would give it away.

Even if you assume the images you care about have this metadata, all it takes is a hacked camera (which could be as simple as carefully taking a photo of your AI-generated image) to fake authenticity.

And the vast majority of images you see online are heavily compressed so it’s not 6MB+ per image for the digitally signed raw images.

The struggle to form relationships comes from issues like what you mentioned here, which are mostly things that are a part of your character. The incel logic is circular.

I like GoG for the idea of getting games DRM free. I buy from them when I can.

But there’s some key features of Steam GoG just can’t compete with:

• multiplayer infrastructure
• gifts and other interactions with friends

I bought BG3 on Steam instead of GoG solely to make it easier to play multiplayer with my friends.

And these features of Steam you can take advantage of even if you buy from GoG (but where would we be without Steam?)

• VR support
• controller support
• linux support (proton)

Also there’s a much better selection on Steam. But sometimes that’s a bad sign. If a game is present on GoG and Steam, that’s a good sign there isn’t a dedication to shitty DRM, even in the Steam version. If a game is present on Steam only, you have to watch out because that game might be DRM-ridden.

DLSS doesn’t work that well. I’m not looking forward to AI replacing artist’s work.

Buy the gog version and make a backup of the offline installer version. Turn off automatic updates if you have installed it via one of the game manager apps.

The “Pro” model iPhone has a lot of the features you are calling out the non-pro one for not having. Also no non-proprietary lossless audio streaming would be more accurate.

That’s probably rather difficult because these websites are essentially computer programs that are rendering their content live. It’s like if you got an phone app to detect when another phone app is viewing something that looks like a book or document, and to then automatically make a paginated PDF of that app…

Meanwhile tv manufacturers are working on AI to sneak in more advertising.

Are there aspects of the game that still offer value or enjoyment

I like the core D2 experience as much as I always have. The gunplay is great, the abilities and build crafting is great, the vibes and graphics and soundtrack are excellent.

The current season is kinda eh but they always put the weakest season they have lined up first because it launches at the same time as the campaign. The current season is more substantial than previous first seasons though, which is good since they are doing 3 seasons per year instead of 4 this time.

The main plot line is finished but there are still sub-plots that need to be resolved. Xivu is not fully defeated. We need to come to a more long-term arrangement with Savathun. (The Xivu-Savathun plot is going to be touched on later this year). Some sort of Vex alliance is long overdue. With the bigger threats out of the way, it would be neat to help the Eliksni and Cabal retake their home planets. Clovis could be a full villain any time now. Plus they are trying to sow the seeds for the new plots down the line with their “traveler/witness demise led to magic seeds being shot into space”. Plus they should answer more details about the fallout after the events of TFS.

All that being said, the main reason I’m still playing is simply because I bought the campaign + season pass combo just like I did for the past 5 years, and I intend to play the content I paid for. However there is a good chance I won’t pay for next year’s pass. There is a lot of potential left in the Destiny IP but the current state of Bungie will have to prove they can still tap into it.

It’s also worth mentioning that I’ve definitely been playing less of it lately than I used to.

Almost everything about it needs to be optional because sometimes USB is used to charge some cheap battery powered thing and sometimes it’s used to make a backup of a harddrive and sometimes it’s charging my laptop with enough power for it to be rendering video but still have a net charge increase to the battery while also providing Ethernet, video output, and keyboard/mouse input over the same one port.

EDIT to make it more clear why the variability of USB standards is what it is, compare a modern laptop to one from 10 years ago.

The older laptop has:

• for video, an HDMI port (or the less common mini HDMI port), and perhaps a mini DP port
• an Ethernet port
• a charging plug
• possibly some FireWire ports (may or may not be the same as the mini DP port)
• USB A ports for keyboard/mouse and other random devices

The newer laptop has:

• USBC ports that can do all of the above

The perhiperals, however, don’t support all of the features. They only support the features they actually use. As long as the laptop supports all of the optional features, you don’t need to worry about it.

The is especially helpful for less technical users who may not want to know what the difference between HDMI and DisplayPort is. With a fully USBC based laptop and USBC perhipals you can just plug it in and it will work.

Of course this is all dependent on the laptop implementing all of the extra features, which is still only really true of more expensive laptops.
