That’s a very good point - it isn’t Mastercard or Visa involved in the card protection. Thank you!
So I guess I’m actually saying: if Wemo offer credit, then count me in!

In the UK the credit card company are joint liable for any purchases over £100.
So if I buy X from company Y for £100, and company Y fails to deliver, or goes into administration, or whatever, I go back to the credit card company and get my £100 back. Or looked at another way, I don’t pay them the £100 and they swallow the cost.

I’m all for a European system like this, but the only downside I currently see is that using Wero wouldn’t provide any protection in the same way that a credit card does, unless I missed that on the Wero website.
Give me the consumer protection of a credit card and I’ll sign up to Wero or whoever!

What a day to be alive! A person called StinkyFingerItchyBum has just taught me about mirepoix. I’m disgusted, enlightened, and grateful. Thank you!
I’m not a big YouTuber but I do follow a few accounts. I’m going to contact them and let them know about the possibility of Peertube.tv.
Hopefully they won’t see it as much more effort to upload their content to two places, but we’ll see!

Ah happy days. I’ve not heard PMPO in so long!

Back when your email address and username were: 583947690@compuserve.com
Good times!

Pretty sure it’s an April 1st joke!

I agree!
Setup felt like a nightmare but once everything is up and running it’s fine.
The other issue is maintenance which is where I gave up. Easier and more painless to just pay another company to do that and not have to worry about server security, spam, the endless SSH requests for ‘admin’, etc etc

I remember having that “net” version of a MiniDisc player, and I would have kept it but it was SO slow to copy music from your computer onto the device.
Plus eBay had those stick shaped MP3 players for about £25 which could hold around an album’s worth of music, and transfer times were much faster; although slow by today’s standard

Pure Browser, and then I disable Javascript.
Give it a try! Browsing the internet is lightning fast, and for pages that need Javascript I just load them in my other browser (Ecosia)

So just to help a little bit without getting too technical…
df -h is your friend to find out which physical drive or partition relates to which directory (called the “mount point”)
If you want, you can set up each drive/partition to be mounted a bit Windows-esque.
For example:
//mnt/d//mnt/e/And so on.
You’ll need to look up fstab to understand how to do that.
I understand it’s tricky to get your head around initially as I felt exactly the same coming from Windows to Linux.
Once you get your head around partitions being able to be mounted anywhere, it actually becomes really handy

new funding for a confidential service to provide prevention therapy to potential offenders before they commit that horrid act against a child.
THIS.
I would recommend watching “Louis Theroux - Among the sex offenders” to get a better understanding of the lack of treatment available for people who don’t want to offend but feel compelled. Some of them are crying out for treatment!

Not yet! But you can make a difference to that… https://yacy.net/

From the article / post: " The soldier who fired the shots describes entering the home and encountering only one unarmed Palestinian, gesturing and saying, ‘No, no.’ "
He openly admits to shooting an unarmed Palestinian man.

Ohh, I see! Thanks for replying. I often forget about ChatGPT as an alternative

Honest question: what happened to Stack Overflow? I still get answers from it. Have I missed some incident??

I would really recommend the documentary Navalny:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navalny_(film)
I knew almost nothing about the guy prior to watching it, and what happens to him is fascinating. He’s not perfect but I do believe what he says and he really wanted a better Russia. The balls on this guy!!
Ohh that would be fantastic!
For now I guess I2P can/will help
