Yeah same, the things that haunt me are the things that hurt other people. That’s not to say fomo isn’t real, but it isn’t what keeps me up at night.

201·1 month agoIt takes a minimum of about 3 years to set up chip factories and longer to ramp up production, so it’s likely they think of this as a problem for the next CEO.

19·5 months agoThis is kinda kinda a bad example, it’s more akin to listening to a bad cover of the original song. Also this tech sure as shit isn’t going to run on cheap hardware which makes it even more egregious.

41·5 months agoActually they’re suing because of these alleged infringement of these weirdly general patents:
- throwing an item at a character in a field triggering a combat state.
- capturing creatures in the wild, rather than in a battle setting.
- riding creatures in an open world and transitioning between those creatures.

2·11 months agoWhen I say fucking up I mean things like spending all their savings and maxing out their credit chasing a dream. It could have all worked out for them if things had gone different, but it didn’t. As a result they’re a lot less happy, don’t have housing security and spend a lot more of their life fighting to stay afloat - their life is worse by almost every measurable metric. It’s not about failing life, but it is about minimizing your suffering.

351·11 months agoI think you’ve got to work out what your appetite for risk is. It’s important to do take risks sometimes even if they scare you to move your life forward but also sometimes don’t. I’ve seen a bunch of people really fuck their lives up because they just kept rolling the dice.
If people actually read the article, it’s not calling for workers rights to be included in skg but is saying that the problems that skg is addressing stem from the same industry practices that treat industry workers as disposable. The article is right, companies will happily dispose of both workers and games as soon as it is their financial interest to do so.
Yeah it shares a lot of stuff with Dishonored gameplay wise, but has a roguelike bent to it. It doesn’t compare in terms of world building but it’s still fun, especially for free.
For the cowbird this is normal. Cowbirds are brood parasites, it’s snuck in whilst the robin was away and laid it’s egg for the robin to raise. If the robin is smart enough to notice what’s happened they will often still raise it anyway, as the adult cowbird will be keeping an eye on the host nest and will destroy the other eggs if the robin rejects it.

1·3 years agoIt’s not an easy transition. My partner works for DDG and I still don’t use it all the time. To their credit they are working to improve things but it’s a small team (comparatively). Their browser has some good features like app tracking protection just from having it installed and quick throwaway email support but isn’t quite up to Firefox’s standard (yet).

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Sex hormones are powerful. Running through everybody's blood. Creating massive aggression, obsession and mental disturbance. What if we could remove their mental influence?
201·3 years agoYou body begins to die a painful but probably mercifully quick death. Hormones are vital to your bodies continual survival and even if you targeted specific ones, you’d just be creating problems for yourself. Elimated dopamine? Congrats you’ve given yourself ADHD and a host of other personality problems. Melotonin? Oops no more sleep for you, enjoy your sudden weight gain and compromised immune system. We don’t take hormones, we are hormones.
