I wonder why the visualisation wasn’t made so it rotates continuously in an endless loop, or is Voyager acting up?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What does "Posts older than 365 days will be removed." mean exactly?
1·10 days agoYou’d need to ask the specific mods for each group or instance where you found this notice since there’s to my knowledge no such thing that’s implemented across the fediverse.

Technology@lemmy.world•‘Apple is getting this wrong,’ says OpenAI — startup blasts iPhone maker over lawsuit alleging it stole confidential information through ex-Apple employeesEnglish
2·10 days agoWhenever I see the word “OpenAI”, I substitute it with “my cat” and the world makes a little more sense.
For example:

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How can AI act without initial human input? Does this show AI can have freewill or am I deceived?
71·23 days agoThis is OpenAI marketing.
The fact that it’s being reported on every media outlet on the planet, means that they were successful.

4·1 month agoWe just rewatched The Dish and drank a glass to both Sam and Tom.
The last time we watched, it was projected onto a bedsheet hanging off the back of my delivery van at Aileron Roadhouse in the middle of Australia surrounded by optical telescopes, a 2m portable broadband vSat dish, with the Sungroper solar car team during the 2003 World Solar Challenge … vying for the most remote internet cafe … we lost out to Mount Everest 😁

1·1 month agoExcellent. Thank you.
Now look at the questions again and when you read the word “you”, insert “preludeofme”.
I’m asking because you’re also wanting to offer a service to customers.

82·1 month agoHere’s some questions:
- What happens when you die?
- What happens if your house is burgled or catches fire?
- How do you protect against pe(s)ts making themselves at home in your server?
- What happens with a power or internet outage?
- What happens with hardware failure?
- What happens if you suffer dementia?
- How are you dealing with AI bots?
- How are you mitigating hacking attempts, security, authentication and exploits?
- How are you dealing with data corruption?
- How do you mitigate against ransomware having entered your systems?
Note that I’m not picking on you, nor is this list comprehensive or in priority order. I’m trying to determine if you’ve considered these common issues and concerns associated with hosting stuff that has great sentimental value, if not actual value.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•SOLVED: Is it in any way incorrect to interpret a downvote as a "fuck you" in a 1-on-1 convo?
2·1 month agoHow about thinking of voting behaviour as being unrelated to what you wrote, instead it being a reflection on what they read.
One on one in a public forum is never private and people will throw their vote just for giggles with no input whatsoever from the other person.
If you want to really know what another person thinks, you’re essentially shit out of luck because nobody really knows what anyone else is thinking.
In other words … voting and breathing are life affirming and uncontrolled processes.
I can’t wait to read the explosion of breathless media reports and “expert” commentary discussing the sudden spate of compromised ID systems and the subsequent finger pointing between politicians blaming each other for this entirely foreseeable outcome while the professionals who kept raising concerns have their uncredited “I told you so” moment.

That depends on whom you trust, the ISP or the VPN.
For example, if you’re using your local coffee shop Wi-Fi, your ISP is the coffee shop, so you need to ask yourself, do you trust them, and everyone else on that network, more or less than the VPN?
