I pre-ordered exactly two games in my entire life because I bought into the nonsensical hype. These two games were No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk 2077. Ever since then, I only have bought games at half price because that’s the point when the full price beta testers are done with quality assurance. I will do the exact same thing here. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
My trick with preordering is that I always do it within the refund window, and only if the game offers preloading, and only for games I am super excited for.
That way I can get the benefits of preordering and still get my money back if the game is shit.
I’ve bought two games on release. Final fantasy 15 and cyberpunk 2077. I love what those games have become, but my experience has been similar to yours
