They are shareholder friendly. Only consumer friendly if that aligns with shareholder incentives

Until and unless they face a mass revolt from their customer base - they will continue to introduce more and more anti-consumer practices.

However, given the general apathy regarding Sony’s decision to discontinue physical media - I don’t have much faith in GamersTM to rally in their own long-term interests.

It won’t be a revolution, it will be a mass exodus…as many of us have foreseen long ago.

Yeah I’m just going to a different hobby. I don’t need to take up arms and fight against Microslop, I’ll just read my ereader with my drm free epubs.

As serious & terrible as it seems: pocketing rebates at the expense of their customers is pretty far down on the list of things they need to worry about.

Has any company given back the tariffs?

It honestly sounds like such a huge hassle to try give that money back. The amount of labor required would be huge, you’d need to check every receipt, probably manually. Make sure all of them are legit, aren’t double submitted

Good for them. Are they selling direct to customers though? If yes, they have all the customer and payment details already, so it would be relatively easy?

Yeah, IIRC Panic had the tariffs as a separate line item when buying Playdates, so it seems like they were planning for this from the start.

I do not think that doing the right thing is difficult, is the customers problem here. The companies could have also just not given those costs forward to the customer, but they were very happy to do so, because, well… money.

Those tariffs would likely have eaten their entire margin so they have to pass it on. Even Panic had to pass them on.

Perhaps they could have gambled on the tariffs being rolled back, but if they got it wrong they would have lost money.

Its just a no-win scenario unless you can predict the future.
