In other words, don’t be like Seinfeld’s night guy and morning guy. “Every guy has two guys living inside him - night guy and morning guy. Night guy constantly screws morning guy over - stays out til 3am, spends all his money on booze… then morning guy has to go to work with a hangover and can’t afford an oil change. And morning guy can’t do a thing about it, except lose his job so night guy doesn’t have any money to go out.”
Be kind to your future self.
Helps me when I feel like procrastinating or overworking.
Nah, future me is an asshole, let him deal with the consequences.
Come to think of it, past me was an asshole too.

And to your past self. I frequently go like, “wait, did I actually do that?” and then congrstulate my pas self becaus I really did.
Does it help you in acceptance or in not doing it?
A bit of both.
If I’m taking on something when I already have a full schedule, I think this and decide if I should pursue the activity or not.
Otherwise, if I’m feeling lazy, I think of what my future self would have to put up with if I didn’t do that particular task.
I hope that made some sense.
