Just reeks of desperation so close to midterms in a red state. Almost as if they think their supporters are losing faith in them so they make up “scary scenarios” to win them back.
while at the same time republicans are the biggest recipiant of welfare from the state, farm subisidies, oil subsidies,etc, plus medi-caid and ACA related insurance.
One of the political ads in ohio say “now that dangerous radicals” blah blah with a pic of AOC, Bernie and I think either Mamdani or Al-Sayed…and behind them is a protest with the only real legible sign says “Medicare for all”.

Every once in a while I’ll catch a local political ad and they are always going after Dems for letting this criminal or that off the hook. Literally the best they can do is fear-mongering. No more “We can keep money in your pocket!” or “Small government is best!”. It’s all culture war nonsense.
I really wish the Democrats would fire back that they’re letting pedophiles off the hook by not releasing the Epstein files (and protecting the PedoTUS).
I actually saw a lawn sign the other day in the rust belt with the orange dipshits face and the text “Pedophile pride is a Republican value” and I wish I hadn’t been driving to snap a picture.

Playing devil’s advocate here, but many parts of Texas are purple or even blue; it’s just gerrymandered to hell. Texas contains a lot more than just staunch MAGAs, so even if they weren’t desperate (which they are to be clear) they’d want to take dumb shots at Democrats.
Talarico has been leading in the polls. This could be the year of Blexas!
I’d say it’s the best chance in decades, but Talarico is still <50%.
Betting markets are just polls you can bribe. All a candidate has to do is make some bets in their favor, and you’ll be convinced they’re winning the race.
Talarico is the senate race I’m hoping for hardest. Paxton is a hate filled criminal psychopath who isn’t afraid to push for laws not even Nancy Mace would put her name next to. Talarico on the other hand seems pretty chill
Not just, the government of Texas sued to stop 2m+ mail in ballot applications from getting delivered so that people couldn’t apply that way. They’re fighting tooth and nail to hold on to their illegitimate power.
Iirc, 54% of Texans vote Democrat if it weren’t gerrymandered.

Just look at US Senate and Presidential election results. These elections are voted at large so it counts everyone’s votes equally no districts.

As you can see every single presidential since Reagan was a Republican win in Texas. Majorities ranging between +3% to +27%, last election Trump won 56% of the vote.
I’m not saying the state isn’t gerrymandered, it definitely is, most states are. But it’s certainly not a majority Blue state at least historically. I’m hoping for a major upset this election cycle

Yeah, so the terminology used by the US right-wing media is so fucked that essentially liberal=communist= anyone to the left of Reagan, but ALSO, for fearmongering purposes, they’re all actually super left-wing extremists.
The only part of it that has taken hold outside of conservative bullshit circles is that the word “liberal” no longer means someone who loves the free market and now has more to do with social justice and even supporting universal healthcare is a “liberal” thing in the US because the socialism word is evil or whatever.
Parts of it have carried over to some EU countries too because at least here in Estonia, the far right looks to Trump and Fox News for their talking points these days (weird in a country with <30% religious people) and our liberals (actual liberals, the kind who want to cut services and reduce taxation) have been called socialists lmao
they have significant amount of south americans that are R voters, they also need to keep them in check with the communist boogeyman, cant afford to lose thier votes them in the south.
