Criminality is an irrelevancy IMO, that just means that for good or bad reasons you’ve broken the law and been found guilty. If I degloved a member of the KKK before shooting them that’s illegal but not immoral IMO, if I was found guilty I would be a criminal but not necessarily immoral.

Simply remove them from harming anyone else. You don’t have any jurisdiction for anything further but to keep yourself safe.
When they are behind bars: you’re safe. Nothing further should be required for you. It’s a safety concern and nothing further as far as you are concerned.
You only have to keep your own judgements for your own morals. Not theirs. Engaging or celebrating in torture is not looking after your own morals regardless of how you justify it.
I don’t see how celebrating torture is the higher road here.
Correctional or isolating them as a problem from rest of society is one thing.
