I’ve lost the things that make me happy. My wife, my dogs, the closest things that I’ll ever have to children, and I’ll never have them back. Every day seemed like a frantic chase to a goal that I’ll never see, and as I plod along, I become an emptier shell than the day I was before.

    What would be the point?

If you are happy you are a target, you still haven’t lost hope and you still have something that can be taken away.

I’m lonely and hate myself, and I hate myself too much to move towards not being lonely.

Also I’m in the Navy, and I work insane hours.

Almost every issue I have right now goes back to billionaires, fascism, or capitalism. The last two years have been the most difficult of my life so far, and literally existential. I just nearly avoided statelessness and now I can’t legally work following a layoff, so I’ve been living off of savings

Because 46 and lost remote job, and after working a year from home dread having to go into work. Especially with gas what it is and I live in shit hole state with no public transportation. Add to the fact that I must try find work in this economy while dealing with ageism. Just fucking hate this shit.

just found out my boyfriend of nearly 9 years has been emotionally cheating on me for the last 3 months, thanks to a drunken slip-up. what’s funny is it would’ve been fine if it was just sex, but no… boundaries had to be tested.

    I miss happiness

Mostly I am happy - I don’t think it really has that much to do with my circumstances, which now are relatively cushy, just a lucky quirk of biology. I have been reasonably happy when homeless, I do get anxious but not depressed, just not how my brain works.

So please never blame yourself if you are unhappy, it can be the other side of the same coin. I do think satisfaction, the ability to be satisfied is a life skill, but happiness vs. sadness, some of that is biological.

Well that for one, but inwards too. Fucking chronic diseases. Really won the gene lottery and then some.

And still we all have to play the capitalism game.
