I’ve been hearing about this mayo for browning thing. Your picture may have convinced me to try it. Do you also use butter or just sub mayo?

You just slather it on just like butter and fry it. It browns the bread better than anything else. I used to use butter or olive oil. But mayo just offers results that were so superior that I cook go back.
