I figured someone might say that. The fediverse can be used as social media, sure.

Using lemmy and piefed only on the other hand is not. They are just forums. There is no social part. You are all bots and randos to me. Annonynmous liars talking about whatever.

No following, no ads, no corporate control, no network of friedns, no self promotion, nearly everything about the “social” part is missing.

Got an annoying emoji in though. I need to re-write my front end to drop those things.

I’m only gonna be affected in Lemmy, so I wonder what kind of posts I’ll be seeing. My guess is mostly pro-democrat bots (“vote blue no matter who”/“purity tests!!!”) because I don’t think we’re the audience for pro-republican nonsense.

The bots are usually enlightened centrism turned all the way up but somehow only ever blame or target democrats. Their end goal is to discourage voter turnout amongst the left in general which is probably the reason they don’t even mention Republicans or how they’re currently in majority control of all three branches

      pro-democrat bots

They’re probably not literally bots, just politically uneducated humans. Like the Dems don’t even know we exist lol, they’re probably not botting us.

I imagine the republican bots will repost the same “all sides are the same, there’s no point in voting” we saw here in 2024.

But then, I’m paying attention mostly to my country’s election until the end of the month.

There’s usually a point in voting, but America is like at the very least 1/3 white supremacist pro-fascist MAGA (from Trump’s approval ratings) so idk how you go against the largest plurality in Burgerland, either through voting or through action, when the righteous and informed are but a handful. But I’ve been told I’m too much of a Debbie Downer so let me just stop right there, and I wish all my fellow decent humans in the US (so probably less than a third) safety and prosperity.
