Insane content censorship destroying people’s ability to make a living. Great one, UK.

So from the article it seems like the law penalizes possession of certain content so some sites flagged and removed bunch of videos to avoid legal issues. I guess they don’t have the resources to watch their entire library and decide to purge it just in case.

Sounds like an issue between content creators and the sites they used for monetization. Not sure if it’s government’s job to make sure people can make money on sites like youtube or only fans.

So calling a genocide a genocide and pictures of oral sex are illegal in the UK, but genocide and far-right nationalists are okie-dokie?

Oh I definitely agree, I’d be doing my ancestors wrong if I didn’t loathe them a bit. But one must admit they had some solid fucken quotes, also I actually do like the Eastern Romans after all they employed some of my more northern ancestors without fucking them over. Note one of my ancestors was a Harmon and they were claiming to be descendants of Arminius as early as the 800s.

You may want to reconsider using “whoresons” as an insult while trying to defend sex workers. Kind of sends a bit of a mixed message.

Laws like this are always a slippery slope. Wishing folks in the UK the best of luck trying to turn this around.

I don’t have a strong opinion on this, since I’m so detached from the whole thing. Isn’t that literally the point? If sex work is banned, then people who worked in that industry can’t keep making a living in that industry. So?

Equivalent to “gun shop workers can’t make a living anymore after firearms ban”. No shit.

I wrote that in reply to the OP text.

Sex work will always happen, the only thing making it illegal accomplishes is making sex work much more dangerous for the worker.

Sex work is still legal in the UK.

This is like the government banning “topless nudity” and waking up to find a site has deleted any pictures showing exposed shoulders.

My fault for not reading past the headline… But also, the way it’s written kind of sounds like the way I interpreted it, doesn’t it?

Not legally, no. And if the government/police starts really cracking down on cocaine dealers, would you feel bad for the ‘honest, hard-working’ drug dealers who just can’t make a living in this industry anymore?

what a braindead take. you actually just skipped history entirely didnt you? look up prohibition for a summary of what happens when you try to make anything people are motivated to do illegal. literally all it accomplishes is wasting a fuck load of government money, handing money and power to drug dealers, and getting a ton of people hurt. the harder you try to enforce it the more money and power you hand to people willing to break the law to meet the demand and the more money and effort you waste.
