Are you… participating in those ways? Or are we all the meme about being all talk? I’m pretty active in my community but most people who post this kind of stuff don’t do much more than complain, eat hot chip, and be hypocrites in my experience. Which is fine I guess.
Can you explain how being “active in the community” will lead to reform in our broken healthcare system?
My life was destroyed by medical bankruptcy. That was 15 years ago, and I have not financially recovered. How can we save others from suffering this same fate?
Luigi was one person, and he did more to change the system than every community group. He sacrificed himself to save lives. We need more heroes like Luigi.
Not a whole lot. I’m not saying I’m going to fix the healthcare system for the US. I’m more wondering what more OP is doing than the person in the meme saying “go vote” because I think it’s a little silly to complain about other people while doing less yourself.
As for my community, tbh we just collaborate and help each other. Watch kids, take care of grandma, help out in the yard. Little stuff. We also pool money but that pool is pretty dry since one of our community was diagnosed with skin cancer. But when I asked what more I could be doing or what others were doing I was also looking for suggestions and it feels like I was suggested giving up my life and committing murder. Which would be fine but I don’t think that’s what the fella who posted the picture is up to. I’m kind of saying “hey do something yourself before you ask others to do more” and then got a suggestion to kill CEO’s from someone who definitely isn’t killing CEO’s.
You don’t have a clue what someone else is doing in real life based on their posting. Their statement is either true or false regardless of what they’re doing in real life, any attempt to compare community organizing credentials is just pointless dick measuring. Any person who might hypothetically be doing anything Luigi-like would have to be a complete fucking moron to cop to it on a public forum, asking/expecting them to do so is fed behavior.
Right. That’s why I asked what they’re doing besides posting. Because I don’t know. And there isn’t any community organizing dick measuring. I was literally asked if I was doing anything about the healthcare system myself and that was my answer. “Locally, yes”. I feel like you might be missing some context or something. But you’re right. The person who suggested I commit murder and give up my life might be doing the same and it might be unreasonable to assume they’re not a CEO murder machine. That’s on me.
No you were literally not asked that, you were asked to explain how being “active in the community” will lead to reform in our broken healthcare system, if you can’t remember what the comment you were responding to said you should try scrolling back up and reading it again like I just did
It feels like a stretch that you’re really upset about perfect comment technical correctness and it also feels like you’re being a bit intentionally inflammatory here so I’m dropping a “I’mma quit replying.” So I don’t feel like I need to keep this weird argument going. You have a good one.
It’s not particularly technical, you’re clearly just butthurt at being called out on directly misrepresenting the comment you were responding to, be better
On a side note there are tons of people who want more people to follow in Luigi’s footsteps and will even push people to do so but are just sitting on their hands themselves because they can’t stomach the consequences. Don’t want to ruin their own lives but they don’t mind someone else taking the bullet. So to speak.
There are other ways

My local DSA is actually really active in raising money to pay off people’s medical debt. It’s not comprehensive reform, but it’s something.

Is the armchair comfy at least?
