Anecdotally, newer machines have removable baskets. Some also have a thin rack at the top specifically for silverware. (Mine has it, they lie horizontally and free up dish space on the bottom rack)

I don’t care. I didn’t buy a dishwasher because i still wanted to had wash some. If it doesn’t survive the dishwasher i don’t want it.
