Europeans will be using democracy to defend democracy against onslaught of anti-democratic forces suggesting that social and political problems should be fixed with military.
So far, despite significant amount of money poured by both American and Russian fascist movements, Europe is still not as bad as the media is trying to portray.
44% of a historically alt-right voting poor and not very populated land in Germany voted for yet another alt-right party, which represents less than 3% of the population of the country. Definetely a case for concern and a reason to never stop political activism, but far from the reason to panic and call the tanks.
I think it’s more complex than that. Why can’t Germans solve this via those democratic solutions and threaten entire EU project by their inability to act against serious threats.
People keep kicking AFD can down the road for years now. I’d point to the paradox of tolerance but this is more of a case of laziness and lack of responsibility - no one has the balls to end the rising nazis. Why?
My original comment implied that this will lead to militarization of europe - I’m not calling for tanks. Polish and other countries will not wait for AFD to start building camps, this will end very badly if not dealt with ASAP.
