    I’m not even American… I’m tired…

Elon Musk rigged the election to let Trump win. Your democrats hate you.

You are all a slave to Israel.

Please… please… Please rise up and stomp out your corrupt politicians on the right and the (Democrats) slightly left right.

Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Oscaio+Cortez and Mamdani are your freedom… Please… Australia is getting too right wing… Please show the world that socialism is the future.

I mean, it’s one thing if you’re pulling leeks and know you gotta rinse them out a bit, it’s another thing to bring a tub of ice cream to a kids birthday party and have to leave early for an emergency dentist appointment.

Product recalls happen all the time. Usually the manufacturers and distributors and retailers manage to get them out of the supply chain before they hit the shelves. That’s the system working as intended, and it does a really good job of keeping people safe.

What we’re seeing here is that system breaking down because of the erosion of public trust. Because they don’t know they are getting truthful information, because they don’t know who or what to trust. Now when we hear about a product recall we don’t go “happy they caught it, I’m sure it will be fine”. We go “what else are they hiding”.

    And that Fucks everything up.

Nah, it’s breaking down because a large portion of Americans thought it would be better to have Trump and friends over competence.

There was a lot of cheating in that election and Elon admits as much that he hacked and rigged machines in key states.

But since Trump screamed and sued for 4 years about stolen elections now anyone who mentions it is now seen as a crazy person.

It worked perfectly. We going learn 20 to 30 years from now that the election was rigged and stolen and Harris really won. Like 2000 all over again except this is way way worse.

Main proof how one county the Democrat Senator and all other Democrats got all the votes, yet Harris got ZERO, and Trump got all the votes. This was New York and experts say that is not how people vote. Not saying some wouldn’t vote that way. But zero votes for Harris is in itself suspicious. Add in the fact that when they spoke to people in that county they found large majority hated Trump.

There was a lawsuit filed but that was last heard about it. Wonder if they didn’t get to sue or suddenly dropped and those involved disappeared?

There is no such county. You’re misremembering a story about a few voting precincts, precincts whose strange voting patterns are completely explainable due to their tight-knit Hassidic Jewish communities in them that vote in lockstep and select which candidates to support collectively. Those same precincts have exhibited such anomalous patterns for years. The Jewish communities there vote in lock step, deciding together what candidates to support. And they decided not to support Harris while still supporting other Democratic candidates. This was debunked ages ago, but you’re still spouting it off.

There was a lot of cheating in that election and Elon admits as much that he hacked and rigged machines in key states.

Bullshit. He never admitted anything of the sort. There’s a few rumors that go around, all stemming from claims that Elon made about knowing the results with certainty in advance. But that could easily have been just some analytics he saw from inside twitter or gambling sites. I’ve seen lots of people repeat the claims you’re making, but when asked precisely how Musk was supposed to have rigged voting sites, they respond with pizzagate-level logic like “Elon used Starlink to hack voting machines!” But Elon has never come out and said he rigged the election. You’re making shit up.

Kamala did not perform outside the margin of error of polls. The race was a tossup favoring Trump going into the election. Harris was carrying the mantle of an unpopular president and threw away her one chance by shitting all over her most ardent supporters in an attempt to pander to moderate Republicans and please her donors. Election fraud is something you should seriously worry about if a candidate with an overwhelming lead in the polls manages to somehow lose. But Kamala’s loss was entirely in line with the path of her campaign.

Occam’s Razor. Kamala’s performance was entirely in line with the polls leading up to the election. The simplest explanation is she was simply an unpopular candidate and lost.

The reason bringing up these theories makes you sound like a crazy person is that you’re using the logic of a crazy person. You’re misremembering stories and making baseless accusations with no evidence behind them. You don’t even have a coherent theory of how Musk could have stolen the election. It’s all just a vibes-based, “something something Starlink something something.”

Your craziness is best exhibited by your description of the lawsuit. You didn’t even bother to look up the lawsuit or see where it went or why it ended. You just went straight to crazy town and insinuated that the people bringing it were murdered to silence them.

Evidence: I haven’t heard anything at all about a lawsuit.

Conclusion: It must be a murder conspiracy!

          This is seriously paranoid thinking.

Don’t be Blue MAGA. There’s plenty to criticize Trump for, plenty of actual crimes to point out. There’s no need to go full MAGA and collapse into conspiracy theories.

Honestly, I really have come to loathe headlines like this. You should generally distrust any political argument made on anecdote and one-off examples. That after all is the exact tool most favored by Republicans to demonize minority groups. Want to make people hate a group? No need to lie. Just obsessively report every time one member of that group commits a crime. Don’t focus on meaningful measures like crime rates and statistics. Instead just scream about one incident after another until your audience has become convinced that the minority group is a bunch of Devils. This was the playbook used by the Nazis against the Jews and their other enemies, and it’s the playbook used by Republicans against immigrants and trans people (both some of the Nazi’s enemies as well.)

When I see repeated posts highlighting individual instances of food poisoning, I can’t help but feel I’m being misled. It’s certainly possible the rate of food recalls have gone up. In fact, I would find that quite likely given the reasons people cite in this very thread. But when conclusions match your gut feelings is precisely when you should be wary of accepting things noncritically.

It makes me really uneasy when I see left leaning folks sharing and uncritically accepting messages like this. If we don’t just want to be blue MAGA (Democrats who share the practices of Republicans), we shouldn’t be accepting conservative-style argument from anecdote. I can’t help feel misled, because my instincts are to immediately distrust anyone that tries to argue from one-off examples rather than citing actual rates and statistics. In this case, what matters is obviously not whether food born illnesses and recalls are occurring, but whether the rate has substantially increased when compared to a few years ago.

So what do you think of Lemmy? I haven’t been here very long, but it seems to me like reddit on steroids. Constant stream of misleading hyperbolic nonsense. Though as far as I can tell, people are at least allowed to challenge the narrative in the comments.

Wow, fascism is a lot dumber than I anticipated. Like of course it sucks, but it sucks in fascinating ways I did not foresee.
