Maybe both partners working 40h+ commute and caring for children and doing household (or not get children at all) is inhumane. With AI things will become worse. Human brain is not designed to never do any repetitive task again. It needs repitition. But these tasks must be fed to AI now.

Maybe the loss of third spaces and the commodification of living has turned the joy of the human experience and connection into something unachievable by many.

Well, for very repetitive tasks we have computers/scripts/programs.

LLMs are fairly good at assisting the somewhat competent user to make said scripts/programs, and helping to monitor them. But they are not the best tool for every job, and certainly not the most efficient in resources.

100 years ago, each family worked 40 hours of wage labour a week, plus childrearing and chores

Today, each family works 80 hours of wage labour a week, plus childrearing and chores

In order to restore the labour rights of 100 years ago, I propose a 20 hour work week!

I got to manually and individually rename 400 files using a complex series of rules the other day. It was glorious

I agree wholeheartedly – inspiration and creativity are usually spawned out of boredom and inspiration. In years gone by, humans spent most of their time bored, and inventing ways out of their boredom. The boredom happened during menial tasks, and the inspiration happened during the leisure time.

By removing the ability of humans to be bored, and reducing their time to be independently inspired whilst bombarding them with never-ending content, that’s likely going to have long lasting effects on how humans develop and think
