Black Label is the absolute minimum I’ll go. When times are better, Aberlour 16 or Glenfarclas 15.

I was in the same boat until I discovered the glory of Famous Grouse. It’s not bad, not great, $32 for a handle and hits about the same as black label. I’d still prefer a nice single malt, but times are tough.

I wanna know how you buy just two packets of ramen.

What, do they sell the packets individually at a corner store?

[serious] If you can afford whiskey, you can afford decently balanced diet.

My grocery receipts got a whole lot thinner after I stopped drinking alcohol. And trust me when I say that in my country alcohol is super cheap.

Haha you are absolutely not wrong.

There’s a couple higher end variants that’s are drinkable. But I’m not going to give them the coin to get them.

if you are looking for whiskey: Westward, Dickel, Clemens, 6666, Tincup, Heavens door, Westland, Balcones or Bear fight are good options.

If its Bourbon: Highwest, Redwood empire, smoke wagon, Penelope, Remus, Pursuit, Old forester, Michters, Russell’s, Dancing panda, Lasso, Hirsch,Four roses, Basil Hayden are all good to decent options

For Scotch: monkey shoulder, Glenfiddich, Drambuie, Aberlour, Brenne, Dewars, Glenlivet and Singleton are good options

for Irish whiskey: Jameson, Writters tears, Red Breast, Slãint, and Whistler are decent picks.

For Japanese whisky: Toki (white or black) kikori and Nikka and Sato Hiki are good Japanese picks

For Canadian Whisky: Pendleton, crown, black velvet, Pike Creek and forty creek are decent options.

I tried going with options I have not seen in the comments and I tried to make sure very few was MGP or other white label distilleries. Also I was aiming in the 30ish to 60ish USD range.

FOR THE PRICE, Buffalo Trace always seemed okay for me, mostly for cocktails, but I’m not a big liquor guy. I remember loving Angel’s Envy Bourbon years ago, but it wasn’t super cheap.

Buffalo Trace is a solid option and I agree mainly for cocktails, and most of the Angles Envy around me starts at $60ish. But also good stuff.

If you want to buy better alcohol for the price of Jack Daniels… just buy 90 proof and mix something yourself l.

I have 3 different Blantons bottles, 3 E.H. Taylor’s, a Stagg Jr. Penelope Light, a Burnheim 20 year, and a few other notables in my high end collection. Blantons is over priced and over rated. its good, but not $110+ and hard to find good. The cask strength is worth it I think.

No worries, I really tried giving a list of not the most common things, a few Commons sprinkled in but I wanted to focus on good stuff thats maybe under represented or under appreciated.

(not an alcoholic, you’re not a monster, just to be clear, I just love the occasional sip of that one, it was my grandfather’s favourite.)

Japanese whiskeys are nice. Suntory and Nikka Days make pretty good mixers but if you wanna sip there’s always Hibiki.

Have you tried any Australians, specifically Tasmanians. I have a half dozen names I could throw out but not sure how far out of Australia they have name recognition. Well besides the Springbay but that’s nowhere near the price range these days.

Is that a 375ml bottle? That one is the 2nd worst priced bottle to buy next to the 1 liter bottle. Idk why they price them so awful but they do. Best priced is 1.75 liter then 750ml followed by the pint bottle which is the first bottle pictured here i believe. Source, worked in liquor store for 3 years.

As an alcoholic with anxiety attacks, I miss being just an alcoholic. I used to feel joy at the sight of a bottle of whisky.
