We need to change impeachment procedure to add clauses that are automatic impeachment and removal triggers that only require a single house of congress to agree to implement it.
There needs to be a way more usable political gun pointed at the heads of all presidents moving forward.
Violations for this should include:
- Emoluments violations
- Starting military action not pre approved by congress unless there are invaders on us soil
- failure to disclose 10 years of tax returns
- failure to disclose personal financial record and records from family members while in office
- any tampering with state election procedures in any way shape or form, presidents shouldn’t even be allowed to talk about the voting process anywhere it’s up to the states and even talking about it is tampering

Agree it actually has to be easier to remove a president, right now they clearly aren’t scared enough. The current government shouldn’t be possible.
The President does not legally have the power to do most of the stuff he has done.
Legislative and Judicial have destroyed the delicate balance required for things to work.
System is pretty good as concieved (slavery comprimise excluded), but the people elected are all too busy trying to game the system instead of implementing it as intended.
Quite the interesting alternate timeline that would be. Supposing the Democrats introduce such a law in 2021-2023:
- GOP takes the House, and is seated in January 2023.
- GOP uses Trump’s evidence against Biden. Biden, due to the new law, is impeached in February.
- The GOP generates some evidence against Kamala as well shortly after she appoints a new vice president. Kamala is kicked out in favor of the new vice president.
- After lots of revolving door action, the holder of the Presidency eventually stabilizes as a very submissive moderate neither side takes much offense to. Sorta like Mike Johnson in a way, but the other way around.
- The importance of the 2024 election has a far greater dependence on the legislative branch. If either house of Congress has an opposing party, the President won’t be around for long unless they do what Congress says. Even if Trump wins the election in this timeline, he’s screwed if the Democrats keep/retain the House or the Senate.
- And even if Trump achieves a trifecta in 2024, allowing him to stay in power, he’s doomed if the Democrats take either house in the midterms of 2026.
I would like it changed to 25 or 33% of one house, and the president doesn’t get to choose their running mate. The VP is whomever gets the second most votes. The VP then comes from whom got 3rd. And an emergency vote it held to pick another backup. It would essentially dissolve the power of the executive branch back to being ruled by Congress… kind of like a representative government… A republic one might even say.

Cohen, a Memphis Democrat who is retiring from his 9th District House seat, cited what he said were multiple abuses of power, violations of his oath of office, the corrupt use of the pardon power and emoluments clause violations by the president.
He acknowledged the impeachment bid would likely fall short, but said he was sending a message about standing up to the president.
“I know they won’t go anywhere, but I’m not going to stop standing up for my constituents and for democracy,” Cohen said in an interview with Nexstar.
Cohen also introduced articles of impeachment against Trump in 2017.

Reading the impeachment articles should be a 24 hour non-stop detailed explanation of everything he has done, every major lie, every enrichment scheme, every violation of citizen’s rights, and every constitutional violation.
They should file a new, separate impeachment every day, appending the previous day’s additional high crimes and misdemeanors.
This, the point would be to clog up the system entirely so nothing can push through at this point.
Considering multiple of these happen per day, we’d be listening to that list for a week straight
Trump’s administration is known for flooding the zone, perhaps reading off the impeachment details for a solid week would make it so they could not effectively counter everything that is said. Give them a taste of their own medicine. Perhaps they could do several different impeachments to overwhelm the system in a similar way to what Trump has done. I know, pie in the sky.

I listened to today’s “The Daily” podcast from New York Times, titled “The Life, and for Now, the Death of the Kennedy Center,” and honestly, if just the things they stated as factual in that episode are true, I personally would consider Trump’s actions on that issue alone to be worthy of removing him from office.
Impeachable? I’m guessing probably not, but only because I don’t think Congress would vote to impeach him for it. But when you lay out what Trump did and why he did it, he’s a person who shouldn’t be allowed the tiniest bit of power. A cashier at McDonald’s has at least a hundred times more responsibility than Trump should be allowed.
