Why are the US even hosting this event? They don’t care about football and seemingly they don’t care about tourism anymore.

Other countries still have the rule of law so rising up isn’t required. Turkey (I have no idea how it’s supposed to be spelt now Tuekïë?) managed to get rid of their dictator by just voting him out.

Fuck professional sports. Get a life, go outside, do some exercise, stop living vicariously through millionaires kicking a plastic ball.

I’ve no problem with people enjoying things, but…

Phillips-Hunter estimates it will take him two years to pay off the credit card debt he’s taking on for his six-day trip to the U.S., including the $1,350 he spent on a ticket for the Scotland-Morocco match.

That’s absolutely insane, to watch a game.

My tolerance and support for other peoples’ recreational activities ends when my tax dollars get embezzled and funneled to billionaires in the name of “fun”.

Agreed. I’m happy to let people enjoy PLENTY of stuff I think is a stupid waste of time. Because when grown-ass adults decide to play Beyblade they’re not doing it in a stadium paid for by tax breaks made by defunding my public schools and road repairs.

People seem to enjoy a lot of things that actively destroy the planet, support slavery and hurt animals.

That’s such an American response. The only reason that animal populations get out of control is because all their natural predators were haunted to extinction centuries ago. Nature is quite capable looking after itself when humans stop dicking around with it

You (the royal “you”) can enjoy watching sports if you want… But if you then criticise me for watching Street Fighter 6 EVO tournament stream, then fuck you.

Also, sort out this drinking and gambling problem with sports already.

Sports gambling tainted all professional sports. I’ll go watch a little league game for athletes performing at their best the whole game.

Compared to Canada 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, where your event ticket got you on the busses or Skytrain for free.

I also wonder if they’re aware of public drinking/intoxication laws in the US.

As another user mentioned, the Evan Edinger did an interesting video on the transit situation in the last couple weeks

Hm, I wonder how the current prices compare to the 1994 prices, that was the last time USA hosted the FIFA World Cup. There was also the 1996 Olympics.
