A shame it’s taken this long to get his “music” off the airwaves. It should have happened years ago.
I know exactly one 2012 song from Macklemore and one 2017 song from Ed Sheeran. And that is the extent of my expertise on their biographies.
I feel a tiny sorry for Ed (not that a guy who has an estimated £400 million net worth needs my sympathy), but he’s just some
poorrich schlub who’s been planning to tour around a bit, play some uncontroversial songs, earn another hundred million, mind his own business and then… kapow!.. he’s front and centre in a fight that’s he’s clearly ill-equiped to even interact with.“Whuh? I just wanted to play some bland music and earn enough money to buy myself a ginger island. What the flip is going on?”
kapow!.. he’s front and centre in a fight that’s he’s clearly ill-equiped to even interact with.
You say that like artists - especially Irish artists - haven’t been front and center on agitating against the Palestinian Genocide for years now.
He organized tour full of pro-Palestinian activists, ffs. Mackelmore isn’t some new figure, either. Jumping on popular leftist initiatives is kinda his brand.
If Sheeren had formed a band with Greenpeace, would he be blindsided when they started talking about the environment?
Like, I’m half inclined to give him some credit just for putting this thing together. Better to have it implode on you than to never tour at all.
Did Ed suicide bomb his career in the name of Palestine? Maybe
Maybe I’m reading either comment wrong, but I think the person you’re replying to was being ironic. Perhaps.
Ah, I’ve seen this take posted a few times sincerely.
Everything I’ve ever learned about Ed Sheeran has been against my will.
I’m old but Ed Sheeran has been around long enough and is big enough for at least one of his songs to float into the pop culture reflecting pool so I’d at least recognize a chorus or a lyric or two, but nothing seems to have stuck. Again, I’m old and don’t listen to new music anymore. I find musical nuggets in the past now, before I was born. Louis Prima rocks! Will Ed’s music stand the test of time?
I have a burning hatred for “pop” so I’m very biased on this, but, no. All his songs I’ve been exposed to (and right now I can only think of “shape of you”, after looking for track names) are, in my opinion, forgettable at best.
I couldn’t name a single song by this guy.
He did that one banger in Game of Thrones but I don’t know if it had a name. It was new.
There’s that Pokemon song
You’d recognize them if you heard them. They were ubiquitous on the radio 5-10 years ago
That sounds like about the length of time I haven’t listened to the radio because I’ve had a personal device that can either hold or steam music from…
They sounded AI-generated before AI music was a thing.
Depends on the radio. I only listen to Spanish public radio and it’s not a station that plays the same songs in a loop all day. It’s back to back curated radio shows. They don’t play Sheeran.
I can name exactly one song, and one song only by the dude; and I never actually listened to the song. (Shape of You).
“removed from the airways” at one radio station in Ireland
better than none, hopefully the first of many
They were never included in my personal library and they never will.
Easiest recipe to damage your music career: Start shouting politics from the scene.
Second easiest way to damage your music career: Surround yourself with people eager to shout politics from the scene.
Funny. Because it seems like the people “shouting politics” are doing fine and it’s the cowards who won’t speak up against genocide who are feeling the consequences of their cowardice.
Someday, I hope non-celebrities who are indifferent to or supportive of genocode see some consequences too.
Good, Macklemore makes better music anyway
This is the way.
Kraft said in a statement on Instagram: “I have dedicated much of my life to building bridges between all people. I believe deeply that all lives are worth protecting.
That’s like saying ‘all lives matter’ in response to the Black Lives Matter movement; it’s disrespectful of the point being made.
Building bridges between the fascists and everyone else, so the fascists can do their thing
Kraft is an Epstein customer and human trafficking expert. Lowest of the low.
I hate how the Right can’t understand context.
“What? You think only Black Lives Matter? ALL LIVES MATTER! Wait I’m the bad guy for saying all lives matter? What the fuck?” - The Right said not understanding what Black Lives Matter means
The issue is that they refuse to understand what it means.
Tbf the left has always been shit at messaging
It took 4 seasons of the boys with writing getting more and more blunt for conservatives to realize homelander was a metaphor for the US right.
It doesn’t matter how good your messaging is if the target audience is a brick.
They still thought he was a good guy and claimed the show went woke for killing him.
What bridges has he built, I wonder.
“Oh well this one time I built a bridge between my accountant, and my finance guy, and this stadium I wanted to buy”
bridges to nowhere, my friends
It’s like thinking reverse racism is a thing.
He very literally tried to pull a “I can’t be racist, I have black friends” because he’s worked with a couple people who happen to be Palestinian
i only ever heard white people(who are racists) use the term of reverse racism, its likely they need to be a victim.
But it is a thing… People can absolutely be racist against white people.
You are technically correct; people can absolutely be racist against white people.
Now I’ll explain why you’re being downvoted anyway.
“Black Lives Matter” became a slogan because police disproportionately target black people. They stop and question black people at a far higher rate than is warranted by actual crimes, they arrest people at a far higher rate than white people, and they kill black people at a far higher rate than they kill black people.
The statement is very obviously not just a literal statement on the value of human life; it’s an accusation that police seem to think black lives don’t matter. “All Lives Matter” simply pretends to be ignorant of the entire background and reasoning behind the phrase.
Israeli’s have been massacring Palestinians and leveling their cities. They have inflicted orders of magnitude more suffering on Palestinians in the last years than Hamas has during its entire existence. The only way to equate the two is if you believe that Palestinian lives are worth significantly less than Israeli lives, and yes, that would be racist.
I think people assume I’m saying that white people are victims of systemic racism, which is not at all what I said.
I don’t have the sociological definition of racism at my fingertips, but IIRC it includes the need for a power imbalance, which is generally why people push back when folks say that minority groups can be racist against against white people. Our entire country was (arguably still is to a large degree) set up to where there is a huge power imbalance in favor of white people.
If you just want to make the very real point that white people are victims of bigotry also sometimes, rather than get into this repetitive debate about whether there can be racism against white people, IMO you can just say “bigotry” or “racial prejudice” and carry the same message you intend to without having to have this tired debate about whether white people can experience racism.
Unless you aren’t tired of the tired debate, but I know I sure am.
No you said reverse racism is a thing
It’s not.
Because that implies racism only works from white->non-white. Which definitionally, is not true. This entire concept is itself, racist.
The actual reverse if racism would be like… Super equitable treatment of everyone, it someone. Not swapping the direction of races doing the biggoting.
I mistakenly thought they were saying that it’s impossible to be racist against white people.
This is like having a conversation about menstruation, and then men being like, “I get cuts sometimes”.
No one fucking cares, if you’re talking about white racism, you’re just being self centered.
People don’t care, they make up whatever they want to feel good about themselves. The definition of “racism” has no specific race, it’s like murder, it’s murder if xyz criteria are met.
If an African American doesn’t hire ANYONE based off race/skin color, it’s racism, period. Even if it’s other African Americas. Caucasians aren’t magically excluded regardless of how bad you want them to be. Typically, at least in my experience in education, most African Americans are happy with racism as long as it’s in their benifit, because they have some weird ass belief that it’s impossible for them to be racist somehow.
Yeah that’s just called racism. White people don’t get a special prefix when it happens to them.
That’s basically my point, though.
If that had been your point, you would never have felt it necessary to say that “reverse” racism is a thing.
It isn’t at all. Your “point” is that you’re somehow unable to understand the meaning of the word racism. Look and think about the word, it’s not “Anyone but whiteism”. The skin color or whatever else doesn’t matter, racism is racism no matter who it’s against. It’s just astounding how fucking dumb you gotta be to reply like you have to a comment chain about “all lives matter” in response to BLM, all you’ve managed to do is show everyone you’re just as stupid and ignorant as the people who say that.
But it is a thing… People can absolutely be racist against white people.
It’s not a thing. If someone hates another person based on their race, that’s racism. This idea that it only applies to hate towards black people is very much a US only issue. The rest of the world understands that racism towards any person is wrong.
Technically you could argue that “reverse racism” would be explicitly liking someone based entirely on their race, and nothing else. But even that’s a stupid way of looking at it.
I was responding under the assumption that the statement about reverse racism was saying that it’s impossible for people to be racist against white people.
The rest of the world understands that racism towards any person is wrong.
They understand that it’s just called racism, but it’s not universally seen as wrong. There are a lot of countries with significant racial prejudice, besides the US. Thinking it just doesn’t exist elsewhere is naive.
Thinking it just doesn’t exist elsewhere is naive.
That’s not what they said.
They said everywhere else thinks it’s wrong. I guess what I said technically isn’t the same, but if everyone thought it was wrong it wouldn’t exist. Regardless, my point still stands that it isn’t seen as wrong everywhere else either. There are a lot of places where it’s seen as normal, or even good.
Their point was that thinking there’s a one way directionality associated with the term between specific races is a seemingly unique US perspective. Elsewhere that directionality doesn’t exist and it’s understood that it can go any direction, even if the bigotry exists there too.
They understand that it’s just called racism, but it’s not universally seen as wrong.
That’s actually a valid point. But I was speaking in a more general sense, in that literally nowhere else in the world will you hear the phrase “reverse racism”.
Read the room.
The room can be wrong
you are confusing racism and prejudice, but from your doubling down, seems like you’re confused quite often.
I don’t know where this bullshit incorrect take came from but it needs to stop.
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/racism
I’m not the one who is confused.
I’m not saying white people are victims of systemic racism, but individuals can absolutely be racist against white people because of their skin color.
And I’m not saying you’re technically wrong, but you’re “all lives matter”ing it. It’s not the topic here so you bringing it up implies that you really want it to be heard regardless of the topic at hand and it makes you sound like a racist prick.
Not just read the room, they are a moron.
You don’t have to be rude, they are literally using the word racism as defined by dictionaries. There are two separate definitions usually listed, one is belief in a races superiority over others, the other is the systemic bias against a racial group. Since 2020 at least it’s been common that people have used it to mean specifically only the second definition and use other terms like racial prejudice for things like prejudice against white people but it’s used that way still plenty.
When people mean the systemic part, they include the word systemic next to the word racism. You can’t just assume it’s implied and get pissed when people don’t understand your made a last mental shortcut combining two things.
you do realize what reverse racism is right? its white people being racist against other white people.
That’s not how the racists that use that word, use it.
I thought reverse racism was like… when you overcorrect for discrimination and end up discriminating against white people? Not just being racist against white people.
No, it’s apparently white people who think they’re being systemically discriminated against.
I incorrectly thought it was more of a way of saying that you can’t be racist against white people.
No, they actually can’t be. Because “white” is not a race.
Look up the history of that term. Most of the people who are white now would not have been 100 years ago. And still no one can agree whether hispanic means white or not.
ETA: The whole idea of race is a social construct and a fantasy with no basis in reality, much less biology. By stating that “white” is not a race, I did not mean to imply that the idea of race is legitimate.
Yeah, “white” is a race as much as anything else, which is to say that it’s such an overgeneralization as to be harmful.
I think the funny thing about racists is that they don’t care and it doesn’t have to be consistent.
‘Black’ isn’t a race either.
What’s your point? Do you really think I was asserting that “black” is a race?
Kinda. You seem to be arguing that one can’t be racist against whites because white isn’t a race. Do you think that holds that one can’t be racist against blacks because black isn’t a race?
True, but how many places are there where they both make up a significant part of the society AND that’s a prevailing enough attitude to cause them actual harm?
I wasn’t talking about systemic racism. I was talking about individuals being racist towards other individuals.
The point is that racism is hate because of race. People that are oppressed by a certain race hate that race because of the oppression, not the race. It’s not racism by definition.
Hating people who have nothing to do with your oppression because of their skin color is racist. Full stop.
It’s like saying men can’t be raped because women are the majority of victims.
No not full stop. That’s not an equivalent comparison at all and it really disturbs me that so many people agree with you. What an egregious oversimplification.
A crime is a crime. I’m not saying oppression gives a get out of jail free card. Hurting an innocent person is still wrong, but being afraid of an unknown person who is a member of a race that is predominantly cruel to you? Understandable. Calling out that race for bad behavior is also acceptable, wouldn’t you agree? As a member of an oppressed race you exist in a world not too dissimilar to the movie “They Live.”
How can you know who is and isn’t your ally? It’s safer to assume they aren’t.
There is a lot of nuance to this very complicated subject.
People that are oppressed by a certain race hate that race because of the oppression, not the race.
…
Calling out that race for bad behavior is also acceptable
Here we have ladies and gents, a perfect example of a racist that thinks he is not racist.
Hurting an innocent person is still wrong, but being afraid of an unknown person who is a member of a race that is predominantly cruel to you? Understandable. Calling out that race for bad behavior is also acceptable, wouldn’t you agree?
No it’s not acceptable it’s just racism 101. A lot of racist white people think the exact same way about some minorities. Also systemic racism doesn’t need you to be white to keep it alive. Here in france there is a lot of racism between minorities. Following your logic it ok for them to hate each other? That’s just dumb
Calling out that race for bad behavior is also acceptable, wouldn’t you agree?
No, that is pure nonsense. It is not a “race” who is oppressing anybody. It is certain groups of people, usually a political and economical elite who are doing the oppressing. Conflating it with race (which is not even a real concept) is the epitome of racism and directing efforts at the wrong reasons. Oppressors love that kind of bigoted stuff, because it causes people to miss the actual factors of oppression.
Calling out that race for bad behavior is also acceptable, wouldn’t you agree?
I’m not who you are replying to but that sounds racist and I don’t agree you should attribute bad behavior to a race. There’s better and more accurate ways to attribute bad behavior, basing it on racial identities is inherently racist in my book, and inherently misleading.
He’s saying he’s built bridges with murderers.
the zionist entity sheeran is so cancelled at this point they have hired pikers chinese producers for content and the investment in the gaza re-education tunnels is almost complete
my hope is that with this cultural victory pop folk rock will be truely nine to five only
100% disingenuous word salad bullshit. Not even worth reading.
To the quote you attached: He created funnels attached to people wallets; not bridges.
israel lives matter more to him. he became salty and got a bunch of other stadiums to ban macklemore. Oh and Kraft is on EPstein files too. apparently ed shareens manager is also in it?
I’m starting to get annoyed that Sheeran is getting all the hate, save an equal amount for kraft, people…
Update- folks, this was a joke. I’m not defending Sheeran here, merely also expressing my distaste for the rest of the players in this horrible situation.
He’s played at private events for Kraft and his agency manager was friends with Epstein & Ghislain

Yeah, Sheeran did some shit too. They have video or pictures on him. That’s why he folded so fast.
People here aren’t smart enough to figure out what you were saying.
I think his music all was taken off the air as well.
Others like Kraft will not change if they see consequences. They will double down. Others like ES will see this and recognize they can’t sit idle or try to “be neutral” in today’s world without consequence, and there is a chance they will change.
We are supposed to expect better for Sheeran, or at least he makes out to be decent
People like Kraft we expect to be dog shit.
Sheeran deserves it…at any time he could stand for something.
That’s exactly it, we expected better. Regardless of if one likes his music or hates it, he’s built a brand on being a decent human being. Basically every story of him before this week has been one of positivity, I’m pretty sure his rider has always been something like a glass of water and packet of crisps, he’s donated a lot to good causes and generally stood up for those who need it.
Billionaires are parasites on society, and Kraft is the kind of man who influence global politics and facilitate ethnic cleansing to line his own pockets, and nobody is surprised by that.
Sheeran showed that the moment anything is on the line, his entire brand of kindness can be bought. I actually believe he thought he was making the non-decision in this, but that was clearly motivated by a desire to keep his brand out of a situation that is basically a for-profit genocide.
Unless he gets up on stage tomorrow’s show and makes a statement with some balls, his entire persona dissolves, and that is his brand. Sadly we all know he won’t.
Shareen did perform at kraft’s wedding, so hes pretty complicit, and likely is getting all these sweet venue deals because of kraft.
It’s expected of Kraft
Enablers are as bad as the people they are enabling IMO
He deserves it. Check out some of the comments on Macklemore’s YouTube videos. Many of the repeated comments are calling out Sheeran saying “being silent in the face of oppression is choosing the side of the oppressor.” They are right, and a lot of people need to be called out in the same way, and feel the weight of their supposed neutrality. It’s about time some of these “apolitical” arseholes felt some heat.
Well said.
Apolitical = complicit.
Fuck Ed “I’m not complicit” Sheeran.
Apolitical= really means i am conservative, but i want to keep the “peace” and not BITE THE HAND THAT feeds me.
People like this are always “apolitical” as long as the Republican party is in charge and doing awful shit. They never want to talk about it because they’re aware of the optics.
Exactly. We need to make it uncomfortable to be apolitical. Only those with the most privilege can afford to be apolitical and we clearly have the power to change that.
Everybody already hated Kraft, he’s an Epstein perv.
and then there’s also the several cheating scandals in recent memory involving his nfl team (new england patriots)
That too
Kraft is a pos and doesn’t care about us and we can’t affect him much.
People like Sheeran have reach and can actually affect people like Kraft, and Sheeran chose not to do so.
this is a warning to other people of influence. be like Macklemore, not like Sheeran. use your influence for good, not to ignore evil.
I can hate both.
I am an infinte fountain of hate. More than enough for everyone.
I’m annoyed that none of this really matters but it’s all I’m hearing about right now.
The WMD’s make their way to Israel and their genocide continues unimpeded.
It absolutely matters, and you’re a fool to ignore this.
Many of us have been paying attention long enough to recognize just how much the average view of Israel has changed, and the response here is a big fucking deal.
The fact that this has so relentlessly and thoroughly fucked Sheeran, is a big fucking deal.
Because this would not have happened even like 3 years ago.
i can hate two things at once!
They can both be pieces of shit. We don’t have to choose just one.
Fuck both of them
Then be annoyed. No one has said massage parlor kraft is getting a pass here.

He doesn’t deserve hate but he showed that he is very out of touch from reality on a sensitive topic.
He deserve hate he told Mac that saying free Palestine hurt the genocide supporters
Imagine getting cancelled in 2026 for being a billionaire’s bitch.
dint he grow up wealthy at least thats what i heard. of anything rich children who grew up with rich parents, never want to be “poor”
There’s very few people who have made it to where he is in the music industry who didn’t. Not for any particularly nefarious reason (although there’s usually a bit of nepotism involved as these things often go), but because working in the music industry fucking sucks. You make almost no money when coming up and balancing a full time job with recording and playing shows means you miss out on opportunities all the time. Coming from a rich family who can support you while you focus on music full time drastically increases your chances.
I think most stations stopped playing him voluntarily ages ago
